Why I Choose this Topic

The reason that I had chosen this topic was because it seemed interesting. Also this is one of the wars that I had never really heard about or learned about. I also did this because of some of the movies I have seen, which raised my interest level. Also I have heard things about this war like how it messed people up on when they came back. But I figured out that that is a myth. The only really reason that I did this topic was because I wanted to learn more about it. I didn't have family involved in it or anything. The only thing that had wanted me to do this was because this event was one of the thing that I had never really learned about. One thing that I found interesting about my research was the facts that this war was worse than WWII. Which most people claim is the worst wars in our history. I agree, but the Vietnam war was the worst war in casualties and injuries.

Interesting Facts

There are very many good and interesting facts about the Vietnam war. For example, most people say that in WWII was more violent and crazy than the Vietnam war. But the truth is that in WWII the average infantrymen saw about 40 days of action out of about 4 years. Where as in the Vietnam war the average infantrymen saw about 240 days of action out of one year. Another interesting fact is the about 2/3 of the men in the Vietnam war were volunteers. Where as in WWII 2/3 of the men were drafted. Also in comparison to WWII the amount of wounds and severe injures increased by about 300 percent. During the war 240 men had received the metal of honor award. Also on average veteran's from the war have about a 18% more income than that of non-veterans. There are many other interesting facts about this war. But there are also many debates about the facts.

Why the Vietnam war was important

To this day many people still question the reason why the U.S. had entered the war. Some people say that the reason that the U.S. joined the war was because of the news that the North had destroyed on of the U.S. ships. A reason that the Vietnam war was important to history, or made a big impact, was because it was the most recent modern war. This was one of the first times when what the country had to offer in technology was shown. It was when the helicopter was used to fight. It showed how war has evolved. It is was also talked about a lot because of the reason why the U.S. had joined. But the main reason that this war was so important to history to me was because this was one of the first wars where new and better technology was used for war. Also new tactics that were used. Like the Guerrilla tactic that the North used to not have to constantly face the strong forces of the opponents.

When and Where was the Vietnam war?

The Vietnam war was about a 20 year war. It had lasted from about 1955 to about 1975. The offical date is very wide spread. It truly depends on which country you are looking from. As in when they joined the fight. The U.S. joined on November 1, 1955. During this time period it was fought in around mostly South Vietnam. But it did also go into the surrounding countries. Which were Cambodia and Laos. It was also considered to be in North Vietnam because of the bomb runs over it.

What was the Vietnam war?

The Vietnam war was a war that has started in 1955. The U.S. became involved on November 1, 1955. They were sent there to help train the people to fight. The Vietnam war was one of the longest wars that America was involved in. In this bloody mess there was 2.5 million killed on both sides. This bloody war was mostly fought in around Southern Vietnam. This war consisted of the following countries, North Vietnam, Soviet Union, and The Peoples Republic of China vs. South Vietnam, United States, Australia, South Korea, and New Zealand. The whole reason for this war was a conflict between the North and South. It was mostly started by the North and the Vietcong's trying to over throw the Souths government. The reason for the split of the country is because after WWII Vietnam was trying to gain its own independence from France. The U.S. getting involved in this bloody war was questioned very much by most people. They thought that it really didn't involve us.
